When the snow falls and the mist envelopes the landscape the world takes on a subtle and calming quiet. Sounds are dampened, the experience heightened. Walking alone through trees brings alive all the senses.
The images are of a place I have explored photographically since 2013. Silver birch trees dominate this landscape. They are the pioneers, the first to populate the land. Their unique shapes and textures take on personality. The average lifespan almost mirrors us as humans and I can often feel a connection with these wonderful trees.
This is a collection I purposely made working in a wide format, rich in the details of the silver birch. This special combination of conditions allowed me to create the images in wonderful soft bright light. The photographs are available as limited edition A2 prints.
