Winters Silence.

When snow falls and mist envelops the landscape, the world takes on a subtle, calming quiet. Sounds are softened and the senses heightened. Walking alone among the trees brings every detail vividly to life.

These images were made in a place I have explored photographically since 2013. Silver birch trees dominate the landscape. As pioneer species, they are among the first to populate the land. Their distinctive shapes and textures give each tree its own personality. Their average lifespan almost mirrors our own, and I often feel a deep connection with these remarkable trees.

I am fascinated by the texture of silver birch bark and the beautiful, almost pencil-like effect it creates. This collection explores those intricate and extraordinary surfaces.

The images were photographed on medium-format film and are available as prints.
